Our company namesake is the Hummingbird Sage, Salvia spathacea. We chose this charming California Native Sage for its unique habitat, occurring under our Coast Live Oaks, Quercus agrifolia. Gardening under our Coast Live Oaks is a sensitive habitat that requires “sage wisdom” for success. Our Sage Team is dedicated to celebrating the Central Coast environments and the inherent wisdom of conscious landscape creation.

Job title and description: General Manager oversees daily operations such as quality control of projects, business development, estimating, customer communications and systems development.
Work experiences: I have worked for a few landscape contractors over the last eighteen years. Additionally, my work experience includes retail nursery and wholesale nursery settings. During college, I worked part-time at the Leaning Pine Arboretum. Further public garden experience was gained at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Finally, I had the honor to work as a horticultural Virginia Cooperative Extension Agent while attending graduate school at the Virginia Tech.
Education: San Luis Obispo High School, Cal Poly State University (B.S. Environmental Horticultural Science) and some graduate studies at Virginia Tech.
What I enjoy most about landscape creation: “I enjoy the undeniably raw intrinsic connection to nature derived from garden and landscape creation. I am passionately in love with the Central Coast of California: I find the seductively pungent Chaparral, wide-open arms of multi-branched Oak Woodlands and misty Coastal Sage full of endless inspiration. Our local natural landscapes are full of wisdom and suggestions of how to garden here successfully…if we merely observe carefully. Most of all, I enjoy celebrating our garden creations with our customers during and after construction.”
Personal hobbies and interests: Gardening, hiking, camping, guitar and bass, concerts, playing games with my son, physical fitness, reading, eating fabulous food and sleeping.

Pokrajac, a commercial general contractor, on different commercial projects throughout the county.
